As a Payroll & Workforce Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for managing payroll administration and workforce compliance processes for contractors, temporary workers, and internal employees. You will work closely with recruitment consultants, finance teams, and clients to ensure workers are paid accurately and all compliance obligations are met. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in staffing, recruitment, payroll, or workforce operations who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time
  • Review and verify timesheets, invoices, and payroll data
  • Manage PAYE, statutory payments, pension contributions, and deductions
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently
  • Maintain payroll records and support payroll reporting
  • Conduct right-to-work and onboarding compliance checks
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, IR35, GDPR, and employment regulations
  • Maintain contractor and employee compliance documentation
  • Monitor worker records and support audit preparation
  • Assist with improving payroll and compliance procedures
  • Support contractor onboarding and worker documentation
  • Liaise with recruiters, clients, and workers regarding payroll and compliance matters
  • Maintain accurate workforce databases and records

Requirements

  • Previous experience in payroll, recruitment compliance, staffing operations, or workforce administration
  • Knowledge of UK payroll regulations, PAYE, RTI, and employment compliance
  • Understanding of contractor or temporary workforce environments
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll systems
  • Experience within a recruitment agency or staffing company
  • Familiarity with IR35 and contractor compliance
  • Payroll or compliance certification (CIPP desirable)
